Register to Vote and Vote Early to Make sure your Vote Counts!
May 5th, 2022
Although it is still summer, it is time to start thinking about an event of profound importance that the fall will bring: the presidential election. Regardless of where your political ideologies lie, one of the privileges of being a U.S. Citizen is that you can cast your vote for who will be the leader of the United States for the next four years. For many of you, the vote you cast will not only be for yourself, but for your loved ones who cannot vote and the change that you hope to see for them in the future.
This year will be different from other years because of the pandemic and its impact on our ability to vote in person. The option to vote by mail exists and if that is something that you would like to do, it is important to make sure that you are not only registered to vote in time, but also that you sign up for a mail-in ballot prior to the deadline. Also, if you are voting by mail, vote as early as possible, to make sure your vote arrives on time as there have been delays with the Post Office.
The information regarding mail-in voting for Massachusetts voters can be found here:
- Registering to Vote: the deadline to register to vote in Massachusetts for all 2020 elections is 10 days before the election.
- Request Voting By Mail: the deadline for vote mail applications for the Presidential Election in Massachusetts is October 28, 2020 (do it earlier if you can). Track your mail-in ballot here, or drop it off in person at your local election office.
- Registering to vote in other states and abroad: Each state has its own rules and deadlines, so please check with your state election office. For an absentee ballot register here
At FitzGerald Law Company, we urge everyone who is a U.S. Citizen to vote and make their voice heard. It is one of the most important actions that we can take as members of a democracy.
