USCIS Will Change Immigration Application Fees starting 4/1/2024
Dear friends,
On January 30, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), announced that USCIS will be changing the filing fees for certain immigration applications starting on April 1st, 2024, as well as some of the application forms themselves.
The final rule shows that, while USCIS increased the costs of some immigration applications, other immigration applications like Citizenship will have a small reduction of the fee if filed online. Other changes include:
- Additional Fee exemptions for Special Immigrant Juveniles (SIJs) and victims of human trafficking, crime and domestic violence; U.S. military service members, Afghan allies and families pursuing international adoption;
- Fee discounts for nonprofit organizations and small business employers;
- Half-price Employment Authorization applications for applicants for adjustment of status and in certain circumstances a reduced fee for adjustment of status applicants under 14 years old;
- A 50% reduction of fee for naturalization applications for individuals who can demonstrate a household income between 150% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines; and
- A standard $50 discount for applications that can be filed online (note that as of this date most applications cannot be filed online yet).
Below you will find a chart with the changes of some of the most common immigration applications and their changes:
